I think you misunderstood him - he denigrates spot reduction but then extrapolates that if you *did* want to lose weight from your belly, you'd be better off doing squats, leg extensions and the like as these exercise are working larger muscles groups, and encourage greater overall muscular hypertrophy and release of growth hormone. Re-watch the first minute.
