Why You Got Fat

For decades we've been told gaining and losing weight is all about the calories. Just one little problem: the research says otherwise. Diabetics undergo dramatic weight changes when they adjust their insulin levels -- and so do you. Your diet determines how much insulin your body will produce over time. From the documentary "Fat Head."

@FatHeadMovie so how to lower insulin levels?
and how to tap into my fat stores?
FatHeadMovie (August 12, 2011)
@jamardjk You need to 1) give your body a reason to tap your fat stores (create a calorie deficit) and 2) enable your body to tap your fat stores. If you lower you insulin levels, the fat stores are more open.

For those that disagree with the low carb theory consider this, a study was conducted with two groups; a high carb low fat group and a low carb high fat group. Both were placed on a calorie restrictive diet of 500 calories. Both group lost weight, but the low carb high fat lost the most fat. Also consider this, high carb diets increase the risk for diabetes.

@garrrynec It's me, and thank you.
FatHeadMovie (August 10, 2011)
@jjmklauwn I've never looked into that, but it would seem that if you burn through your stored glucose, you'd go into ketosis faster.
FatHeadMovie (August 10, 2011)
@garrrynec Yup, I dropped the diet sodas a couple of years ago.

@jjmklauwn just to go on a little further...studies have shown that drinking regular pop or diet doesn't matter, they both raise your risk for obesity and heart problems. Most studies that I've read suggest diet is actually worse for you. My recommendation. Have one every now and then as a treat. Your body can handle a treat. That's why we have a liver lol

@jjmklauwn drop the soda...did primitive man walk around with a diet coke in his hand? no
