From what I've read about the misadventures of youth exercised by members of that group, especially Conway Twitty, Uncle Charlie must have had the patience of Moses as well as a great ear for talent. It must have been a gas to visit his house as a kid. A truly fantastic American story. Thanks again Halbie.

@halbie71 I just saw your prior post about the band practicing at his house. What a great story to have in the family. It must be a source of pride how well the music as withstood the test of time. wonderful story..thanks for passing it along.

@halbie71 - I hope Uncle Charlie understood that when 90 cents of every dollar made is firmly budgeted to women, booze and drugs, it's tough to make what's left go very far. He didn't say women, booze, drugs and repaying Uncle Chaz or it wouldn't be nearly as funny as it is. I guess Robbie robbed all of the band guys so Uncle Charlie may have to blame it on that drunk red injun. (I'm 1/2 Mic Mac before anyone blows a gasket)

@29cherokee29 - Yup & he never paid back my Uncle Charlie Halbert from West Helena, Arkansas who helped out Ronnie Hawkins, Levon Helm & The Band before they hit it big with Dylan & went out on their own!

Since I first discovered Larry Carlton playing drums on this Vid, and being a Carlton fan, I've watched several uploads of Carlton interviews and guitar lessons on Youtube. Despite being a guitarist, in his lessons, he teaches novice guitarists to pay significant attention to the drummer. In his interviews he describes one particular drummer as so outstanding that when he hears him play to anything, he hears more than simply the sound of drums & symbols, but a sound similar to playing notes.
